For the past 48 hours Maddie's had a slight problem with one of her lungs that wouldn't inflate completely due to an accumulation of mucous. Last evening they were able to remove a lot of the mucous with deep suction treatments and that helped her breathing tremendously. The medical staff is monitoring her breathing and they feel they are on top of the situation. They've also turned up the pressure in her cannula (air line under her nose) to help inflate that portion of the lung. She tolerated the treatments well and had a very calm night. Maddie's weight is up to 4 lb's,4 ounces. The noise level in the normally quiet NICU was raised a bit yesterday when Maddie was visited by the ever clamorous Tommy Lasorda. After all that it's no wonder she slept through the night. Kirk
